Challenge
The company had many problems with its legacy reporting system. They were reporting directly from Universal Analytics and in some cases used Excel and Looker Studio-based reports as well. This process required a lot of manual work and led to inaccurate, decentralized, and slow reports. Furthermore, they were missing important insights due to the limitations of Excel and Looker Studio.
Solution
Squery team first implemented an automation process – using KNIME – to get rid of unnecessary manual steps in the report update process. KNIME workflow extracted and transformed data from various sources (mainly from Google Universal Analytics, GA4, and Excel files) until the client decided to use BigQuery. After the BigQuery setup Squery team was tasked to migrate the data from legacy systems and to create the data model. After establishing the backend processes the reports have been updated and implemented in Power BI.
Benefits
Now client has an end-to-end reporting system with daily updates. Data security has been updated as well and a brand new set of dashboards have been developed for both internal and external users.
